Relax! We’ll Wipe Away Those Wrinkles!

Muscle relaxant treatments are not only great for reducing the appearance of wrinkles but they are also incredibly effective and safe.

Over time, the contractions of the muscles beneath your skin, as well as your facial expressions, will cause wrinkles to appear. But there’s no reason you have let nature take its course!

The treatment is an incredibly safe way to tighten and firm your skin for a younger look appearance.

GUMMY SMILE

Though there is no official definition for what is considered a “gummy smile” (or, in technical terms, excessive gingival display) your Skin Clinic professional can help you achieve the gorgeous smile you’ve always dreamed of.

Essentially, a gummy smile is when a large amount of gum tissue shows above the top teeth when you smile, which can make some people feel self-conscious.

By simply injecting a small does of muscle relaxant into your upper lip muscles we can stop them from lifting too high, giving you a naturally more beautiful smile.

Contact William Street Dental and we’ll be happy to answer all your questions about creating your perfect smile.

HYPERHIDROSIS

STOP EXCESSIVE SWEATING IN ITS TRACKS

Everyone sweats.

It’s perfectly normal and is essential in helping our bodies cool down in hot weather. However, if you suffer from excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, and you feel it is affecting your quality of life, a simple procedure that takes only a couple of minutes could be a game changer.

Your Skin Clinic professional can stop excess sweating in its tracks by injecting a small amount of muscle relaxant into the affected area(s). This will block the secretion of the chemicals responsible for activating the sweat glands and help keep you dry. The treatment is relatively fast and painless and the results can last up to 6 months.

So don’t sweat it! Contact William Street Dental today and we’ll answer all your questions and see if our treatment is right for you.

FAQs

FIND OUT A LITTLE BIT MORE

WHAT EXACTLY IS A MUSCLE RELAXANT TREATMENT?

The muscle relaxant we use has been used for treating wrinkles since 1973. It is protein based and very safe to use. During the treatment we inject a small amounts of the highly diluted muscle relaxant into the muscle fibres that control your facial features. When the relaxant takes effect the tension is reduced and the appearance of your wrinkles becomes less noticeable.

IS IT PAINFUL?

The relaxant is dissolved in a sterile saline solution and is injected with a very thin needle so, at most, you might feel a slight tingling sensation during the treatment but otherwise it’s nearly painless and takes only a few minutes.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

You will start to see the effects of the relaxant about three to five days after the treatment and it should reach its peak in 14 days. This firmer, tighter effect will last anywhere from three to six months, after that you will need to repeat the treatment if you wish to maintain your younger look. Also, if the treatment is repeated before the effect is completely gone, it will ultimately last longer.

WHEN THE RELAXANT WEARS OFF WILL MY WRINKLES BE WORSE?

No. Interestingly, muscle relaxants will have both a therapeutic and preventative effect on your wrinkles. Of course, if you stop the treatment, your wrinkles will gradually reappear but they will be exactly as they were before you visited our skin clinic.

WILL THE TREATMENT FOR A GUMMY SMILE HURT?

Generally speaking, no, you shouldn’t feel much if any pain at all during the procedure. Your Skin Clinic professional is highly trained and has the experience and skill to improve your smile correctly, with optimal results and little discomfort. We can also use a topical numbing cream to reduce the risk of pain even more.

HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS LAST FOR TREATMENT OF A GUMMY SMILE?

Under ideal circumstances you could see the benefits for almost 6 months. However, for most people they generally last anywhere from 4 - 6 six months. Although the effects of a muscle relaxant treatment aren’t permanent, you should only have to be treated about three times per year to keep your new smile.

ATER TREATMENT FOR A GUMMY SMILE, HOW LONG BEFORE I FEEL ‘NORMAL’?

If you follow our post-treatment advice you should be back to your normal life in almost no time. Some of the things we ask you to do is to NOT touch or rub the injection site for at least 6 hours after treatment, avoid exercise for the rest of the day (so you don’t sweat), and NO lying down or leaning forward for a few hours- which can cause the relaxant to move before it has fully taken effect.

HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS LAST FOR TREATMENT OF HYPERHIDROSIS?

Using muscle relaxants to treat hyperhidrosis is simple and effective and your new found dryness can last anywhere from 4 to 14 months. In our experience, however, we find that many patients have repeat treatments every 6 months or so.

WILL THE HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENT HURT?

You shouldn’t feel much, if any, pain during the procedure. Your Skin Clinic professional is highly trained and has the experience and skill to provide the best results with as little discomfort as possible. We can also use a topical numbing cream to reduce the risk of pain even more.

IS HYPERHIDROSIS COMMON?

Hyperhidrosis, better known as excessive sweating, is fairly common and affects approximately two million people in the UK- or roughly three in every one hundred people. Hyperhidrosis can affect many different parts of the body including your underarms, the soles of your feet and palms of your hands, and can happen at any age. The important thing is to remember you’re not alone and we can help.
